Canon EOS 40D: Quick Control Dial

"Okay the next control on the camera that we want to look at is the quick dial. The quick dial is this big round circular control here on the back. It rotates all the way around 360 degrees continuously in both counterclockwise and clockwise directions. A lot of times you will use this dial here in the back to set aperture or shutter speed or ISO setting. It's also got a set button in the middle when you want to select an option from the menu. So, for example, if I turn the menu on here and I'm scrolling through with the main button, let's say I want to change the quality of my image. Right now I'm set to record in this jpeg mode which is, it's the highest quality jpeg mode I can shoot in. So what I might do is be scrolling through here with the main dial and want to scroll down through that menu and the way I do that is by using this quick control dial, and then let's say I did want to select the quality setting from this menu, I would just need to press the set button which is in the center of the quick dial and it will take me through all of these options and I can scroll through those using the quick dial also, and when I've found the setting that I'm happy with I can just press the set button, select it, and then scroll through to another setting."
