Canon EOS 40D: Installing Battery

"OK, after you've charged your battery, the light on your charger will remain constant, static, no blinking. So, no blinking on your charger means that your battery is ready to go. So, what you're going to do is pull it off, the opposite direction that you put it on. And it should come off easily. And, I'm just going to put this charger away. And, now you're going to look for your Canon 40D, and on the bottom, there is a open latch. What you're going to want to do is push that latch, in towards the camera, and open it, it'll, should just open easily. Then follow the arrow again, on your battery, and what you're going to do is stick it straight into the camera. And, it will click when it's in there. And then, you can just shut the door there. And, turn on your camera. There is a little on/off switch here on the bottom. And then, on your LCD screen here, your camera should tell you much life that your battery actually has. In our case, right now, the battery is completely full. But it may be that you need to keep charging yours for a little while, if for some reason, it wasn't on the charger, long enough. And then removing the battery is very easy, as well. We'll just open the latch on the bottom of the camera. And then, there will be a small white latch, inside the door, that you need to push down. You see that white latch there? Just push down, and the battery should just pop out, like that, and you can put it back on the charger or store it away. When you're not using your camera, it's best to not leave your battery inside of the camera, because it will slowly drain the battery and it will make your battery less useful. Give it less capacity. So, when you're not using your camera, take the battery out. Store it, back in your bag with the cover, placed on the back of the battery, like that. One thing you might do, is use the cover to let yourself, or let somebody else know, that the battery is fully charged or not fully charged. You might face it one direction, in this case, maybe I want to use the blue side to let somebody know that the battery is charged, or if the battery has been used, I might flip it around the other way, so that the blue part is not showing on the battery. So, just make sure that your battery is not stored in your camera, so you can charge, the night before you use your camera."
