"Alright, we're talking about auto focus modes here with the Canon 40D. And the first auto focus mode that we want to talk about is the one shot mode. To get to that mode here, again we're going to select the AF-drive button and then scroll through to one shot. And the one shot mode, basically, is primarily for still subjects. And what you'll want to do is take your camera and go ahead and focus it. Focus the camera on or aim the camera at your subject, press the shutter button down and the camera will pull a focus on that item on the subject. And once the camera has pulled a focus, what you can do is recompose the shot. Maybe you want to move the subject off to the right or to the left to give it better perspective or more natural perspective and that focus will be locked and it's not going to change. So one shot is primarily for relatively still objects or still photography and achieves a locked focus one time, until you initiate another focus by pressing the shutter button once again."
