"MATT CAIL: Hi, I'm Matt Cail. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be providing you with tips to make your travel a lot easier this holiday season. Another tip for your airport experience is the practice of traveling light versus traveling heavy. Why, why, why does it save you time? Well basically, if you have a nice smaller bag, you can carry that on the plane. Now different airline services supposedly have a variety of standards on how big bag is, but generally I would probably say two by three feet wide could probably get that in the carry-on bin above your seat where you're sitting on the plane. If it can comfortably fit in that space, you can carry it on, but usually they let me choose like one big carry-on and then like a small or personal item which you can fit underneath your sit. Keep that in mind; don't try to show up with like three small pieces of luggage. If you get the bigger piece of luggage, that means baggage check. Baggage check is not bad; they actually do a pretty good job for what's a very inglorious task but it takes time. It means you have to go through baggage check first off before you can really go through security and check-in. And it also means that after the plane lands, you have to go down to the baggage claim and that can add an extra 30 to 60 and some horror stories, 90 minutes, to your trip, where it's no fun to be a grumpy traveler after having 10 hours in the air and layovers, and then you have to wait another half an hour to over an hour waiting for your baggage to arrive and there's always the outside but still a possibility that they can lose your luggage. So why not avoid that entirely, save time, save anxiety, pack light. Odds are wherever you're going, they have a washing machine. I bet they'll let you use it. "
