"MATT CAIL: Hi, I'm Matt Cail. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be providing you with tips to make your travel a lot easier this holiday season. Because flying plays such a major part in so many people's Thanksgiving-travel plans, we're going to cover a series of tips on airports, how to deal with them and how to basically get through them as quickly and painlessly as possible. The first tip is an easy one, but it's something you can, well, quite often overlook on your hectic Thanksgiving-travel day, and that is getting to the airport early. I don't care how early you have to set your alarm; I don't care what you have to kinda push a sign; hopefully, you've planned so you haven't left a bunch of stuff to the last minute, get to the airport early. If problems come up, you're going to have time to deal with them. If you have your flight which has been rescheduled or otherwise delayed, you're going to have time to deal with it. You're also going to have time to get through security. Nowadays, security can mean long lines. It can mean waiting, waiting for substantial periods of time. I one time had a travel experience where, through no fault of my own, I couldn't get to the airport early and it was an absolutely insane time getting through security and waiting and checking my watch every five seconds because I was so worried the plane was going to take off without me. Good news is I caught my flight. Bad news is I checked my luggage so late, they lost it and I ended up living out of the same, well, set of clothes for the next three days. You don't want to do that. So if at all possible, get to the airport early."
