"MATT CAIL: Hi, I'm Matt Cail. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be providing you with tips to make your travel a lot easier this holiday season. Beyond planes and cars, ask yourself: Do I need any other form of transportation? Is there something--is there a missing gap in my trip that I'm going to need to fill? Now, oftentimes when people are traveling, they think of cars and planes, but in this country, we have passenger-rail service, subways, buses. There are ferries involved. I one time had a trip where I took a bus downtown, subway out to the airport. I flew; I had two connections. After that, I rented a car; I drove the car up to catch a ferry. Then after that, I finally drove to my destination. Some trips can be very complicated, so make sure that you don't have all your gaps filled in and then you get to one where you're, like, whoa, I don't have a plane or a car, what do I do? Then you have a gap. This could be a situation where you're asking a friend who maybe will come pick you up from the airport so you don't have to rent a car at all, or maybe you're going to be railing on the good old mass transit to get you there on that final leg of the trip. Just make sure and ask yourself, make sure to leave no gaps in your travel plans when you're actually going home for Thanksgiving. It's very complicated to deal with those if you do."
