"MATT CAIL: Hi, I'm Matt Cail. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be providing you with tips to make your travel a lot easier this holiday season. The next thing to think about is the issue of distance. Not all trips are created equally. A cross-town Thanksgiving is going to be much easier for you to organize and plan with logistics. It's probably just going to be an issue of hopping in the car or hopping on a bus and going over to your relative's house. That is very different if you're actually traveling across the entire country. Think about where your start and ending point are. And generally, how complicated and what travel methods you're going to need to get between point A and point B. I mean, for example, traveling from around the nation's capital up into the Chicago area is going to be very, very different than what you're going to need to do to, say, to travel the same route, first from the nation's capital to Chicago and then from Chicago all the way out to the Pacific Northwest in Seattle. These are, essentially, trips where you're still trying to get home for Thanksgiving but they're both going to involve very different logistics. Understand, in general, the longer the trip, the more complicated and the more amount of time you're going to need to properly plan your trip."
