How to Fine Tune Your Christmas Budget

"Hello my name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village, today we're going to be talking about how to budget for Christmas. In our final clip I just want to reiterate about tweaking your budgets. For instances of overspending, it's so important here this last column here with all of those different subject headings. If you are someone that tends to overspend, do it this year, just make a budget for yourself and track your spending. You'll be surprised at how much money you will actually save when you save your receipts and you actually track all of those dollars that you have been spending and where the dollars are being spent in all of those different subject headings. So this last column here, the most important. You can overspend in someone else, but somewhere along the line you're going to need to compensate. You can't keep overspending on all of these different people. In this case we were talking about the holiday gift spending worksheet, but if we flip back here and we have all of these different subject headings, we have food, and the decorations, and the incidentals, and tips, and gifts. So you have to think, I've got X amount of dollars I want to spend overall for the holiday season, divide it up and then don't forget to tweak your budget to compensate for any area that you've been overspending.
