"Hello my name's Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village today we're going to be talking about how to budget for Christmas. In this clip let's talk about brainstorming gift ideas. So we haven't gone any further than our pad of paper and pen, we're still brainstorming. But let's write down some holiday gifts, some of the things that you want to buy, even for food. So if you're budgeting and you say I've got two hundred dollars to spend on food, well what kind of food do you need to have? Do you need to have alcohol? Are you having a party at your house? Or you might need some wine for dinner or what have you. Do you need the turkey, do you need stuffing? Do you need a Christmas pudding? Are you doing holiday baking? So as you're beginning to think of that and budget, you want to brainstorming and jotting down not just how much you want to spend on food, but start getting into more detail. What food items do you want to get? And that's when we get into brainstorming for gift ideas. So for your mom, what would you like to do, and maybe for your dad and for your grandparents, or a sibling. But as you're brainstorming those gift ideas, cost will start to, you'll get at least a general estimate of some of those ideas. And if you're thinking about how to be a little bit more frugal, or how to be cost effective, some of the things, or some of the best gift ideas come from gifts that you make yourself. So can think about that as well. Some things that people tend to often forget too is about how to wrap those gifts. We do a segment later on how to cost effectively wrap Christmas presents too. So I can understand why a lot of people get overwhelmed when it comes to the holiday season. But it's all about being prepared. If you make your list and you follow it, and you really stick to a plan, it really doesn't have to be that overwhelming. "
