on 8/2/2008 the suit i found for my son was black, so dirt wouldn't really show so much especially in the haunted trail where he was working... so i used rattle can brown primer on teh legs and sleeves. lightly overspray it and allow it to dry well. it will be stiff, but it won't rub off!

"Hello! I'm Matt Cail on behalf of Expert Village. I'm here today to show you how to make a zombie costume. Now, if you want to go all the way out, after you have sliced up your pants, you can go outside and grab some dirt. Make sure that this clean, at least relatively speaking. You can take this dirt, smear some in your hands and then take it and smear it on the pants. What is this going to do? It's going to make it look like the zombie has just crawled out of the ground as if they just crawled out of their grave and out in the prow looking for human victims. I've seen about maybe 1/3 of the zombies at parties I've been at do this. Pros is of course it makes you look more authentic as if you just have crawled up to the earth out of your grave and have now showed up at the party. Downsides are of course the dirt can smell a little earthy, not to be too redundant. Also it can make it hard for you to sit down on furniture because the host is going to be over tapping you on the shoulder saying exactly why are you mudding up my mint green sofa. Keep these things in mind whenever you decide whether or not dirt is going to be right for you and adding it to your costume. Plenty of zombie costumes look just fine without dirt."
