"Hello. I'm Matt Cail and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you today how to survive a big family Thanksgiving. Despite your best efforts, your Thanksgiving dinner could still start building and building and building into a big stressful volcano. With that in mind, I'm going to give you three escape hatches. Three tips which you are going to be able to use. Things which, if things are getting out of control, are going to let you get away and just calm yourself for a little bit. The first one of these tips is your spouse (if you have one) or even your significant other or a very close friend. Basically, someone who is very close to you, have them be your quarterback. They are your back-up. If people can't stay out of the kitchen, they are there to clear them out of the way so that you don't have to be clawing someone's eyes out to get them out of there. They are there as great back up. They are somebody that, you know, you've gone over the game plan of the day and they are there. They are there to pick you up when you've fallen down. They are there to fill in any gaps if something needs to be done. They are on perpetual stand-by and they are going to be there helping you throughout your Thanksgiving day. I will say that this has been immensely helpful to my family members in the Thanksgiving past, and to myself as well, to have that kind of back up person. Somebody who can kind of sometimes be the bad guy or at least split duties up; the go-to person to kind of ratchet down the stress levels when things have gotten out of control. "
