How to Marinate a Tofu Turkey

"Hi, my name is Lori Schneider with Figs Catering in Austin, Texas on behalf of Expert Village today we are going to show you how to make an entire Thanksgiving meal. The next part of marinade for our tofu turkey is to take my olive oil and we are going to go ahead and add some thyme leaves to this mixture and thyme is really great earthy flavor. It is very good for fall and what you really want out of leaves of the thyme the stems are uneatable, they are very tough so you want to try to get those off if possible. But the leaves are very fragrant and really really nice. Really the best way to remove thyme from the stem is to hold the top of your stem like so and just with your other hand just strip it off. We would do I guess like a teaspoon of thyme or so. Again if you are not a fan of thyme you can always add other seasonings sage would be really nice, rosemary, chervil, parsley, any of those would be really nice. And now that I got my thyme into my bowl I'm going to add about a teaspoon of salt. Again I like to use Kosher salt I'm going to do about half a teaspoon of crushed black pepper. And once I got that all together I'm going to go ahead and mix them up and that is our marinade for our tofu turkey. Now I'm going to place our tofu turkey into the marinade, I'm going to let it sit on either side for just a few minutes so both sides get infused with the flavor of the marinade."
