"Hi my name is Lori with Figs Catering in Austin, Texas on behalf of Expert Village today we are going to show you how to make a entire Thanksgiving meal. Once I got one cut I'm going to turn around and place to my pan and I have my pan with a little bit of oil in it you can do butter, you can do butter and olive mixture or just olive oil. And have it set to low low heat and we are going to let them cook for about 30-45 minutes until they turn a nice light brown color. Now another trick is if you want to make them even sweeter you can add about a teaspoon or a tablespoon of sugar and that would also help with the caramelization process. To check your caramelized onions to see if they are done go ahead and look at them. As you can see they are still quiet a bit of fight going around in here and we actually starting to get a little bit of browning which is good. But these are not quiet done yet we still have a few minutes to go on them I would say another 5-10 minutes. The key is to remember to keep your temperature nice and low and just turn them every once in a while so they don't get brown on one side and not the other. Now my caramelized onions are done you can see here that they are all nice and light brown and some are darker then other and that is okay. But they are nice and light brown and they are ready to go. The flavor of the of the caramelized onions is just amazing you can just eat them like this they are so sweet they are almost like candy. What the heat does in draw up the natural sugars in the onions and makes them nice and sweet and the sugars actually turn the dark brown and that is what gets it that color and there fore gives it the flavor."
