"Hi my name is Lori with Figs Catering in Austin, Texas on behalf of Expert Village today we are going to show you how to make a entire Thanksgiving meal. To prepare out onions for green bean dish first I'm going to start off with some white onions. I'm going to go ahead and cut off the very tip here but I'm going to make sure that I leave the root in attached just like you see here. I'm going to go ahead and cut off the other end. I'm going to cut our onion in half here and this is so I can go ahead and remove the skin. Your skin would not caramelized in fact is would get really tough and rubbery and you would really be able to tell the skin is in your caramelized onions if you don't remove it all the way. So make sure you get that off. Another thing to remember when you caramelized onions is that it is going to shrink to about a quarter of what you put in there so don't be afraid to overload your caramelized onions or overlay your pan with onions because they would shrink down tremendously. Now that I got all the skin removed I'm going to cut them to basically half mooned and you want it to be decently thin cause the caramelized a little bit faster. "
