Summary: Who needs Hallmark? Here are some tips on how to brainstorm for your own Valentine's day cards with this free video clip.
"Some of the best cards are, unfortunately, ruined by poor word choice. And I mean you've spent all this time and creative energy putting together a great card and then you don't exactly know what to say outside of, "I love you," which is nice, and that's important, and maybe you don't say it enough. But, if you want to add a little bit of extra romantic flare into your card there are a couple of strategies and techniques we're going to cover to make you find some of the words that are going to basically rocket your card from like "okay" to "spectacular". There, of course, is the good old staple, "I love you." And, you should not forget that. That is an important statement and it's key to a lot of Valentine's Day cards. But, maybe you want to go beyond that. For this I recommend that you brainstorm. And first off, go over memories. What memories do you have of your loved one? Maybe you have a memory of how you met in the snow on your first date. Or how they were there for you, at a critical time. Maybe you want to focus on physical attributes. Like, light brown eyes, or something of that nature. Some attribute of them... Like, they're very kind-hearted. But by taking just five minutes time and starting to brainstorm through a bunch of different things that you love about this other person you can automatically see how you can start stitching together some great memories, thoughts, and just your affection into eight to ten words. That's really all we're looking for, like a really nice short statement, one to two lines of text. That's it. This isn't necessarily to be a sonnet, this has to fit on our card after all. At the same time though you want to make sure that you take extra effort here. Not just have something which, while "I love you" is great is can be a little staple. What you don't want is, "Hey, you're kind of cool," or something like that. That's a big no, no, no, no. You keep that off your card. It would basically be like having a stain on a wedding dress."
