How to Draw Valentine's Day Cards

"Next we're going to create our heart shape on our selected piece of paper and we're going to do this with the assistance of our doily. Basically, what we're going to do is you take your piece of paper and your doily, put your doily aside for a second, and now we're going to fold the piece of paper. This is going to be exactly in half. Make sure to line up your edges. You do not want to have things askew because that will result in a lopsided heart. So make sure that the corners all match up, on both sides, not just one. Once they do we're going to be ready to fold here. Hold it down at the edge and go towards the eventual crease. Try to do this as smoothly and neatly as you can because you want to have a nice smooth crease rather than a lot of rumples and crinkles. Now once you have this crease here you're going to start measuring out your heart shape. And you're going to do this with the assistance of your doily. 'Cause what we want, actually, is to have our heart shape fit very neatly in here, in this region right here, this is where we're going to add here so we're going to have a nice border. Now I've also picked the red paper with the white doily because this makes for nice contrast. Now taking a pencil, what we're going to do is, see these little holes right here? Basically make what I call "stitch marks". This is going to eventually guide your scissors, so you can cut out your heart shape. You're going to continue your stitch marks all the way up and around the entire shape. In this situation you do not have to cut freehand, which is great because you're going to get a much more accurate shape, and the heart is going to fit nice and neatly in here. So continue this up all the way around and as soon as you've done that then you can pull out your handy scissors and get ready to do some cutting out of your heart."
