Paper snowflakes have long been a popular winter crafts project for kids. Not only are they fun to make, they are also educational, helping kids to develop spatial skills and an understanding of symmetry, as well as manual dexterity while they angle and twist their scissors to shape their visions. But most of all, they are simply fun to make, and an excellent way for kids to express their creativity and their excitement for the coming Christmas season.
In this series of free arts and crafts videos, our holiday authority Matt Cail tells you everything you need to know about making paper snowflakes. "Hello, I'm Matt Cail and on behalf of Expert Village I'm gonna show you today how to make some paper snowflakes. In starting the craft of our paper snowflakes we are going to need several different sets of supplies. First off, you are going to need to have a good pair of scissors. The smaller the snowflakes you also want to make the smaller the pair of scissors. I pretty much have like a good standard size, you can pick up in many stores in their stationary isle. You're also gonna want to have some paper. What I recommend it's just some good old basic 8 1/2 by 11 white paper, same type of stuff that you use to print things off on you can go with carbon paper, that is another option. But I found just your basic fundamental paper usually gets the job done. We're also gonna want to have some scotch tape. In addition to the paper, tape and scissors, we're also gonna want to have some glitter glow sticks. Yeah, these are really really cool, actually they don't always glow all the time but they definitely do glitter. Actually I prefer to have either blue or silver. Also, we're going to have a nice silver pen, also recommend having a couple of other shades of blue like a blue pencil and also a normal pencil and last but not least some string for our snowflakes.
