"Hello, my name is Matt Cail on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'm here today to talk about trick or treating safety. Halloween is an exciting time of year. You're going out, you're all dressed up, you're ready to get running down the block and get some great candy. But it's important that whenever you're running down the block that basic pedestrian safety is still observed and that traffic safety in laws are also still observed. Just because it's Halloween, it doesn't mean you should be running throughout the street and because you're going to be out after dark, that can be down right dangerous when you mix in traffic. Make sure that your child stays on the sidewalk. Make sure that you only cross at corners and definitely be aware of traffic. You're going to be dressed up potentially in a dark costume and hopefully you'll have your reflectors on, but it's always going to be much easier for you to see a passing car than it will be for the car to see you. So make sure that you stay on the sidewalks, pay attention to your parent, or if you are the parent, you make sure and keep your kids on the sidewalks and stay within those crosswalks and generally watch out for cars. I can not stress that enough, that is one of the biggest potential safety hazards on Halloween, is children who unfortunately miss a passing car and then you have a situation that nobody wants. So just make sure that you keep your little ghouls and gobblings in check and on the sidewalks."
