"Hello, my name is Matt Cail on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'm here today to talk about trick or treating safety. But where are you going to put all that candy in? Every trick or treater needs to have a good bag with which to carry their haul. I've seen a variety of bags over the years being used and one of the worse you can do is the grocery store paper bag. Even if it has nice handles at the top, these are almost guaranteed between the wear and tear of a child and also just the weight of candy which will be building throughout the night to rip. Often times sooner than you think. You will not have a chance to get back to the house to replace it. This is not a very durable bag and I do not recommend it. Likewise plastic bags suffer many of the same problems. Their bottoms will give away or it'll stretch to the point where the handles let go. Neither bag, any type of bag you get at a grocery store beyond the specialty isle is not a good one. Another traditional grocery bag is of course pillow cases. Pillow cases are good, the fabric is very durable, they can hold a lot of weight and they don't usually have handles unless you cut those in and probably mom is going to be unhappy if you have. They can hold a lot of weight and you can also really grip them really, very tightly at the top. The thing to keep in mind about these type of bags is to make sure that the size of the bag is proportional to the child. You don't want a five year old having a huge pillow case full of rocky road candy if that's half their body weight, that's a good recipe for either a tired child or even have them drag it around presenting a safety hazard there in traffic."
