"Hello, my name is Matt Cail on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'm here today to talk about trick or treating safety. Okay, so now it's time to move onto costumes. The first thing is a word about masks. Masks are very popular with a variety of costumes out there and they have been for the last 50 plus years. But there are several limitations of masks and one of those are breathing. Many masks have very, very narrow opening, if at all, meant for the mouth to which you can breathe. Take example this mask here, you can see it's a very little narrow slit which you really have to press through to like even make it open. What happens is you don't get a lot of oxygen flow through a mask like this and it'll also be perspiring inside which further can aggravate your cardio vascular system. It's good to have a mask, especially for a child which has a wider opening, which allows more easy breathing. This mask over here has that, for example. You can see there are nice gaps through the teeth area, where you're going to get a lot of flow of oxygen in and out for a child. You don't want a child to have heavy breathing as they're jogging through the night, especially if you combine that with a condition, say like asthma. You actually can a potential dangerous situation if the child can't breathe enough and you may not understand that it is the mask causing it until they're having a real episode."
