"Hello, my name is Matt Cail on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'm here today to talk about trick or treating safety. So let's keep assembling our Halloween grab bag, our survivor kit that we're going to be taking out with us to make sure we have a safe night. And the next item you want to make sure you have with you is a flashlight. Flashlights are great whenever you run into dark areas, they're good to make sure you're watching where you step and as reluctant as some kids will be to bring them along, they're going to come in handy almost every Halloween. It also mean a flashlight does not need to make the evening less fun, a good tragedy is to assign one child responsibility for the flashlight. They are the flashlight captain for the evening, which means they're responsible to make sure that the path remains lited at all times, that everyone is watching where they're going and that there's no really dark corners for the other children. The other thing you want to make sure that before you go out check the flashlight batteries, they should be able less than one year old, if they're any older than that, you should think about replacing them just in general. Also, test the flashlight a couple of times. If you notice that the light is dimming or that it's not consistent, you have to shake the flashlight to get a real bright stream, that's also another sign you should have clear batteries before you go out trick or treating."
