Series Summary

Having a hard time justifying the big bucks necessary to play Spiderman 3, Time Crisis 4, or the latest game endorsements from Tom Clancy, Tony Hawk and Tiger Woods in the comfort of your own home? Well fear not, because Expert Village is here to help that voice inside your head convince you that you really do need to have a Playstation 3 video game console. But not because you can brag about your high scores to your friends, but because you can use the console for much more than just playing games. Present the investment as a new dvd player, mp3 player and personal computer and even the most diehard spoilsports (parents and creditors) will admire the value in your new purchase. Then you can obsess about the high score with a clear conscience.

In this series of game console videos, our electronic expert tells you how to use your playstation to watch videos and listen to music. Tony Ramirez demonstrates the easy way to set up your playstation to play dvds and mp3s. You can also use this formerly one-dimensional component to surf the internet and import and view photos. As an added bonus, Tony shows you how to upgrade you playstation to carry out all of these new responsibilities. With our expert help, you can even configure wifi and ethernet! Just a game console? Hardly!

Video Transcript

"Hello, my name is Tony Ramirez from Tampa, FL and on behalf of Expert Village these are the optional uses of a Playstation 3, not just playing video games this is a lot cooler. There are three basic types of Playstation 3 but now there are three basic types, there are two. These were the first two, it's actually the 60gig and the 20gig the biggest difference is the 60gig which is now the 80gig has wireless built in and it has, you can see here. The actual memory card readers built into the front of it, this is very cool, the 20gig however is not. It is flat, this one has the silver top the 60 and 80 both have the silver top, the 20's have the black. This is the biggest way to tell the difference and of course like I said the 20 does not have the card reader built in or wireless. So for the money if you want to spend the extra money the extra hundred bucks and get a bigger hard drive, the memory card reader in the front and the wireless, go for it. If you want to just kind of go on a budget, you can go ahead and get the 20gig. The cool thing about the 20gigs is the hard drives can be swapped out easily. So you can make this one bigger and you can use the USB ports in the front which you can kind of see here to add memory card readers, hard drives or anything else that you want to add. Which will make it like this but, you can not make this one wireless yet, there are no wireless plug ins for this one yet. So if you want to go wireless go ahead and get the 60 or 80, if you want to stay normal and just get and buy anything that you want to do, you go ahead and use the 20. Either way you're going to be able to play your high definition videos, they both have HDMI, surround sound pretty much the same just a couple little features. So those are the two now three different versions of Playstation 3."
