How to Make Halloween Centerpiece Picks

"Hi, this is Jenny with Simply Beautiful Crafts on behalf of Expert Village and today we're going to making a variety of versatile Halloween centerpieces. For your Halloween centerpiece you may find that you'll need to make your own picks that are specifically geared toward Halloween. When you go to a craft store or a fabric store you will find plenty of picks in fall colors but they don't necessarily come with a specific Halloween theme. So, it's a very simple matter to make your own picks. There are a lot of different things you can do, you can buy these picks that are ready made from the floral department, basically it consists of a green stick with some 28 gauge wire attached and with that you can put a hole through a little Halloween finger puppet and wire it to it and you'll have a little pick that way. Another thing that you can do is to take a toothpick, just a simple toothpick and put it through your small little pumpkins or other kinds of picks. Anything that's Halloween you can put a long pick, these are bamboo skewers, and those make great picks if you don't mind them showing. Another thing that I did in one of the centerpieces we're going to make, we're going to have a scarecrow and I took some seed packets and just stuck a bamboo skewer through it and that will be the pick for that. Another thing that you can do is to buy an inexpensive package of the little Halloween rings, cut off the back of the ring, take your 28 gauge wire, cut some of that off, wrap the wire around what's left of the ring, it will stick out and makes it very handy, just twist it and then you can attach it. Perhaps you want to make your own pick with some leaves and then you can take the spider and just wrap it around from the 28 gauge wire, twist it to where you want it, and now you've gone from a fall pick to a Halloween pick simply by adding a little Halloween trick-or-treating decoration. There are many different things you can do to make your own picks if you are making a Halloween centerpiece and you already have the fall picks, you can just add in some of your Halloween things too, just use your 28 gauge wire and wire them to your pick. So, you may want to make some of your own picks. Take your little scarecrow and add a little raffia so that you can add them to your Halloween centerpiece."
