Series Summary

Halloween is a great holiday for fun and festivities the whole family can enjoy. Dating back to the 5th century BC in Celtic Ireland, Halloween originally may have developed on a day when the Celts believed that spirits could intermingle with the living, and so would dress up in ghoulish scary costumes and noisily parade around the neighborhood being destructive, in order to frighten away spirits looking for bodies to possess. Today, the Halloween holiday is more fun and playful with children and adults dressing up in scary Halloween costumes for trick or treating or a fun Halloween party. Many people carve Halloween pumpkins to make Jack-O-Lanterns, and also decorate with fake spider webs, bats, ghosts, and other ghoulish decorations.

In this free video series, our expert will demonstrate how to make Halloween centerpieces for your next Halloween party. You will get step-by-step instructions on how to make a variety of Halloween and autumn centerpieces, including a dead tree, Halloween candle holders, and a cornucopia. These are great tips for anyone planning a Halloween party or fall themed get together for friends or family. So put on your Halloween costume and get the kids involved in these fun and easy Halloween crafts.

"Hi. This is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're going to be making a variety of versatile, Halloween centerpieces. These are some of the general supplies you'll want to have on hand when making Halloween centerpieces. First of all, you're going to need something as a base for your centerpiece. We're going to use a cornocopia, a glass bowl, a basket, a charger, and also a long, narrow glass boat to make centerpieces today. You'll also want to have the things that you would probably have if you were making a Fall centerpiece, because the base will be Fall. Maybe some rafia, some pretty leaves, some picks, some ribbon, your Fall vegetables, maybe some popory, different kinds of leaves, and definitely you will need some floral blocks or circles to secure your pieces. You'll also probably need some Elmer's glue or some hot glue. And then to take these Fall things and turn them into specifically Halloween centerpieces, you'll want things that are specifically Halloween. Maybe a dead tree, scarecrow, black leaves, maybe some little ceramics that are definitely Halloween, little plastic things, these kind of rings, these kind of little tiny pumpkins, candles that are the right colour, and of course you're going to want your spiders and your spiderwebs. So, these are the general supplies that you're going to want to have before you begin your Halloween centerpiece."
