"Hi, I'm Ginny on behalf of Expert Village and I'd like to tell you a story, come travel back in time with me as we explore the brief history of Halloween. As Christianity slowly spread throughout the Roman empire Catholic priests tried to eliminate the Pagan beliefs of the Roman and Celtic people. The priests believed that these practices were exceedingly wicked and against the church and it's teachings. But, the Celts refused to give up their traditions and religious beliefs, so, the church attempted to change the Celtic New Years celebration of Samhain into a Christian celebration by the establishment of All Souls Day. This was a day in which the souls of the dead were honored, eventually, different Popes of all time changed this into all Hallows Day or Holy Day, a time to honor the saints who did not have their own Holy day. The evening eventually became All Hallows Day and the evening before became knows as All Hallows Eve. From there it is a short step to All Hallows-een then eventually Hallow-een or our current day tern Halloween. Stay tuned for History of Halloween, Chapter 7."
