Series Summary

Valentine's day is the holiday that takes place every February 14th during which, traditionally, lovers express their love for each other. Often Valentine's Day cards, candy or flowers are sent, and red and pink hearts are used to decorate. Originally named for Christian martyrs named Valentine, the day became more about romantic love in the Middle ages when courtly love flourished. It has become a bit commercialized since the Middle ages though, and is now the second largest greeting card sending holiday of the year behind Christmas.

Everyone wants Valentine's Day to be special, so why not treat yourself and your loved one to some fortune cookies on this romantic holiday. Besides being a sweet and creative gesture, a fortune cookie is just plain delicious, and it's also easy to make! In this free video series, you'll learn what ingredients are needed for a Valentine's Day fortune cookie, how to separate an egg, cut out the inserts, and ultimately how to enjoy the delicious recipe! It's important to enjoy yourself on Valentine's Day, so learn how to make these fortune cookies today, and I predict any special occasion will be that much more special.

Video Transcript

"Here's everything you're going to need to make your romantic fortune cookies. A half a cup of all purpose flour, a tablespoon of corn starch, a quarter cup plus one tablespoon of sugar, two tablespoons of oil, a quarter teaspoon of salt, two egg whites, and I?m going to show you how to separate an egg, a teaspoon and a half of water, a teaspoon of vanilla extract and a quarter teaspoon of almond extract. You'll also need some parchment paper, an electric mixer, a mixing bowl, a coffee mug, because you're going to use that to fold the fortune cookies over, and a muffin tin which we use to cool the cookies so they stay in the right shape and a pretty Chinese box for the presentation. And we'll also be using these gloves because we're going to be handling the hot cookies straight out of the oven. And last but not least, you'll need these fortunes, that's the best part. You can hand write the fortunes or print them out on your computer. Whatever you do, be as creative as you like."
