Preset Camera Zoom for a Canon XH A1

"Now I'm going to show you how to use the zoom preset, and this is a really cool function. It basically lets you zoom in to something, you set that level, and then zoom back out, and the camera can automatically zoom in that far again without you having to worry about it. I think this is great for doing a super slow zoom on a tripod. Because, even when a tripod zoomed all the way in, almost touching the camera, I get a little bit of shake. This way I can zoom all the way in, real slow and pretty like, and not have to worry about accidentally shaking the camera since I'm running my servo zoom over here on constant or even if I'm working with the manual zoom. So, let me show you how to do that. These functions are right here behind your ND filter. Basically, it says position preset. Right now it's set to off and should probably be off most of the time. But, if you set it into the middle, you're set on your zoom position preset. What you would do now is just zoom in to where you want to zoom into. What you do is, right here, you want to pull this little switch back and hit set, and you'll see in your display a little green box will appear in your little zoom bar. When I zoom all the way back out, now I'm ready to get my shot, I'm recording, I would just slide this over the other way to on and it automatically zooms without me touching it. It's important to note that this is zooming to the level that your constant speed is set at. If I go back and switch off, switch to constant zoom speed next to my record button, and set it all the way down to one, and now set my zoom again, and I'll zoom back out on my manual zoom so I can get out there fast. Then if I hit the position preset to on, I'm going to get that really slow zoom. It's almost so slow on one that you can't even tell. Like I said, the great thing about this is, now I don't have to worry about accidentally shaking the camera during this zoom that we're doing right now, we can get a really clean zoom. I think this function is really best for these slow zooms right here. That's what I would be using it for. That's how you use the zoom preset."
