How to Make the Base of a Graham Cracker Gingerbread House

"In this clip, I'm gonna show you how to create a base for your graham cracker gingerbread house. Now, even though graham crackers are much lighter in weight than actual gingerbread, with icing and all that candy it can still get pretty heavy. So it is important to have a base that is sturdy, and can handle that. Sometimes these gingerbread houses get moved around and picked on eating the candy, so we're gonna start. What I have here is two cake boards. Just, you know, from a cake decorating store, and I double them up to add for the stability. I just do a quick piece of tape, and hang them, hold them together. Your cake base is going to make all the difference for your presentation, and so I tend to use this foil paper. It's used to wrap cake boards. So we just wrap it around, using some tape. You can use a platter. If you have a decorative platter you prefer. You know, instead of washing off the royal icing, I just prefer to toss these. But a decorative platter; If you want to use it for a fancy centerpiece, go ahead. If you have foam core lying around from left over craft projects, foam core works great as a base. Even a piece of wood from the garage that you cover up with a food safe paper such as this, and it's strong and ready for your graham cracker gingerbread house."
