How to Make a Pilgrim Collar

"Hi, I'm Karina Fraley, for Expert Village, and we are making our pilgrim placeholders. So, we have gone ahead and painted on our little face, and added our nose, and the first layer of clothes here, and now we are going to go ahead and add the collar. It's very, very simple. Again, you're going to have to free hand this, though, or you can actually draw it out on a piece of paper and then trace and cut it if you want, but it's really very simple. You're going to start out with just a little square of white felt. And the way that you determine the size is just kind of wrap it around the front like that, and it just needs to wrap around the front part of the pilgrim. And then you're going to kind of eyeball where you want it to be, or you can go ahead and use a tape measure if you want to take a tape measure, or you can mark it with a pen. I can see that pretty much it's going to be about half this width. So I'm going to cut that like that, and so you can measure, again, just sort of eyeball, put it up, that looks like a good length from top to where I want it to hit at the bottom. And then you just take your scissors, and again you're going to cut a triangle, like that. And there's the collar! And if you want it smaller, you can go ahead and trim it up - in fact, I think I am going to trim mine up just a little bit, like that. See how cute that is? And we're going to go ahead and glue it on with some hot glue again, like that. And felt, again, really does not do well with hot glue guns if you try to pull it off once you've attached it. So, be sure that it's where you want it to be before you actually stick it down. And, so you see there, like that. I'm going to trim mine down just a little bit right there. Okay, so that's the collar, and next I'm going to show you how to make the hat."
