Traditionally a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, Christmas has taken on a myriad of secular customs and activities. The exchange of gifts and presents placed under a Christmas tree by Santa Claus is certain to bring fond memories for many children in Western cultures, and tales of Rudolph leading eight reindeer on the roof are classics. Often Christmas activities incorporate winter activities like sipping hot cocoa or using winter foliage as Christmas decorations. Christmas can be a truly wonderful time, full of nostalgic decorations, family, food, and gifts. But after all the presents have been opened, the cookies eaten, and the family has gone back home, how do you deal with the aftermath?
In this free video series, our expert Karina Fraley will demonstrate how to take down all of those Christmas decorations and store them in an organized manner, so that you'll be able to find them in the garage or attic ten months later.
"I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village. I am a lifestyle expert and I'm also the official mom for the mommywood.com website. Today I'm going to be giving you some ideas on how to pack away your Christmas decorations after a fun and festive Christmas season. It's really important that you keep a few a different things in mind when you're packing your things away. The first thing, obviously, is you're going to want all of your very delicate ornaments to be properly secured and padded when they go into boxes. Also, you're going to want to keep your lights untangled and possibly even grouped together according to themes. For example, if you have a lot of Santa Claus stuff and a lot of reindeer things. You can put those into different groups. Then when you pack them away, it's going to be a lot easier next year to pull everything out and remember where everything was. Throughout the year, you can kind of go around your house and think of places that maybe a certain decoration would fit in just so. I'm going to go ahead and give you ideas in the following clips. Stick around and we'll get started."
