Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to make fun delicious gingerbread men. For this last part of mixing up the gingerbread we're actually not going to use the stand mixer, we're going to make a dough that is so stiff that we would risk burning out the motor. So you want to take your mixing bowl out and you probably also want to put a towel underneath it just so it's not moving around as much. You've got your spoon or spatula so you can mix stuff in and you're going to take that last bit of flour and just pour that right in. Little bit sticking there. And we want to start out slowly just folding the flour into what has already been mixed up. It's going to take a lot of work to get it all in there so you want to start out slowly. Just kind of folding it in coming up from the bottom, mixing it slowly and carefully cause you're going to have to incorporate all of that flour into what was already mixed in. By having such a nice thick stiff dough, it's going to make a lot easier to work with once you finally get to the point where you're rolling out your cookies. And you can see it's starting to get incorporated and kind of cut in a bit. It's a slower process but you can also understand just based on the man power that is going into this, why you don't want your mixer to take care of it. If you have a food processor you might be able to mix it in depending on how powerful that matter is, but it's really not taking that long to get everything mixed in. So you can see one solid flour has been incorporated; you've got super stiff thick dough and we're ready for the next step."
