"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to make fun delicious gingerbread men. Our first step in making our gingerbread people is to measure out our dry ingredients. We want to mix the dry ingredients separately from the wet ingredients go make sure that they all get mixed evenly. If you're mixing your dried ingredients one at a time into the wet ingredients then you can end up with clumping and you're not going to have like the leavening or the spices evenly distributed. So first we're going to add five cups of flour. We need one teaspoon each of cinnamon. This is going to have a lot of spice in it. So we've got our one teaspoon of cinnamon. And we're going to add one teaspoon of cloves. Put that in there and it's starting to smell fantastic. Then two teaspoons of ginger. This is after all gingerbread and actually the teaspoon won't fit in that jar so we're going to gently pour it in. With spices if you're not exact, it's okay and certainly if you wanted to add a little bit more or less then that's fine. It's such a small amount volumized compared to the flour that it's not going to effect the consistency at all. So now we want to have one and a half teaspoons of baking soda and actually I'm going to use the half teaspoon to measuring it out to make sure I'm not mixing any spices in there. There's half, one and one and a half teaspoons of baking soda and then just a half teaspoon of salt. Just a little bit of salt to give balance to all of the sweets, sprinkle that in and then we're going to gently combine everything using the spoonala; a spoon combined with a spatula until we have fairly evenly mixed in, the white flour will look a bit speckled."
