Between traditional Christmas dinners and endless office holiday parties, it's almost impossible to celebrate the season without putting on a few pounds of Christmas cheer, just like jolly ol’ St. Nick. Whether it’s the honey glazed ham, the fruit cake, the egg nog, or the cookies that get you, this is the time of the year where you just stop counting calories and start counting good times and happy memories.

"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to make these peppermenty candy cane cookies. Our first step for making our candy cane cookies is to go over the ingredients that we'll need for these easy delicious fantastic looking cookies. In order to make the cookies we'll just be needing a few simple ingredients. The first of course is flower for making our cookie dough. Secondly we'll be using confectioner sugar or powdered sugar instead of regular granulated sugar; this gives it a different consistency for the cookie dough. Then just a dash of salt, one egg, half of pound of butter which is two sticks or one cup depending on how you are measuring it. And for flavoring we'll be using a little bit of vanilla and a little bit of peppermint extract; the peppermint extract just adds to the candy cane because it's a candy cane, it looks like a candy cane and so this will help it taste as a candy cane as well. And then for the red coloring we're going to be using red food coloring and you'll see that you can get an entire bottle rather than the small drop bottles of food coloring. For something like the candy canes we're going to be using a lot, I recommend getting an entire bottle of food coloring because it's easier to measure rather than counting out the drops. "
