"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you the proper way to baste a turkey and how to make delicious gravy for your traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. Now it's time for our final basting before the turkey is going to be done. At this point we are going to make a slight change in order for the turkey to brown properly, we are going to take the foil off. Until now it's been protecting our turkey so that it doesn't get overly cooked on the breast meat until the thigh and legs to brown properly and be able to cook. Now it's the last bit and we can take out foil off and allow the heat to be on the breast. Now how do you determine when it's your last time to baste? Well you want to keep basting throughout the time the turkey is baking. Starting from 45 minutes and you do your first basting, and then every half hour after that. You'll be able to tell that the turkey is done when the thermometer is inserted into the breast comes up about 165 degrees. Now you can also determine whether or not the turkey is done by inserting a fork or a knife into the thigh and making sure that the juices run clear. For now our turkey has about half an hour left so we are going to pop it back into the oven, let it brown and then we'll be ready to take him out and serve him."
