"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you the proper way to baste a turkey and how to make delicious gravy for your traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. Our turkey is ready for its first basting so you want to take it out of the oven. Make sure to pull it out far enough so it is easy to grab. Carefully take it out and place it on the nearest counter top, you want to close the oven back up so that the oven is not losing any heat while you're basting your turkey. The foil doesn't get to hot so you should be able to remove it with your hands, now for our first basting we are going to use some more butter. So you just want to have your melted butter ready and you want to brush it over all of the skin of the turkey, you want to make sure that you get as much of the turkey skin and covered as much as possible with melted butter. This will help to make sure that the turkey browns evenly at this time also you want to check and see if there are any juices on the bottom of the pan. If you are planning on making gravy you want to put some water on the bottom so that the pan doesn't burn."
