"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you the proper way to baste a turkey and how to make delicious gravy for your traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. The last step before putting our turkey in the oven is to cover it with foil or to cover it with the lid if your roasting pan has one. Now the reason why we are covering the turkey with foil is to help prevent the turkey from browning the ends. Now you don't even have to cover it so that it's completely over the sides of the roasting pan, you just want to cover the turkey because that is going to reflect some of the heat. The problem with the turkey cooking too quickly is the breast meat is going to dry out before the thighs and legs are done. You just want to tuck that around there and put one more piece up front, you want to make it so that it is easy to get the foil up again because you are going to have to bring up the foil every time that you are basting your turkey. With that done it's now time to put the turkey in the oven. "
