Next let's look at what tools and equipment you are going to need for basting your turkey. Of course you have your roasting pan but it's also really important for the turkey to be up on a rack, this is so that the juices can collect at the bottom and you don't have the turkey sitting on its own fat. In order to get a nice crispy skin, the turkey has to be up above some of the moisture while it's cooking. Now in order to baste you'll need a basting bulb, you can also pour ingredients on top of it. But in order to get the juices out of the pan you'll need a basting bulb. Now one of the tools to help you with the basting will be a cyclone brush. You can use a regular brush but with the cyclone one you just pop it on on the edge of your baster and then you can gently brush the turkey with the juices. Another tool that you can use would be an injector that fits on the end of the baster but this is only if you're going to inject flavors underneath the skin of the turkey. Which is not entirely what we will be doing today, and last but not least you're going to need some aluminum foil. This is to cover up the turkey so that it doesn't brown too quickly, now some of the older roasting pans that I've seen has covers which you can also use. But since the last one I saw was by my mother I haven't seen any for a long time.
