Summary: Fireworks can be dangerous. Get tips for using bottlerockets and watch demonstrations using different types of fireworks, and the basics of safe and effective fireworks displays.
Fireworks were developed in China around 206 BC. They were invented by Taoist Monks who created them by accident through playing with gunpowder in their spare time. Later pyrotechnicians in China were very well respected for their unique skill and bravery since this was and is never a safe venture. Eventually there became a scientific method and strategy to making fireworks which developed into its own profession that, of course, still flourishes today. We use fireworks at many national celebrations in America such as July 4th and New Years as well as sporting events and concerts and we can also use smaller fireworks to celebrate personally on a smaller scale
With the awe and spectacle of fireworks also comes danger to the people controlling them. In this video series you will learn about safety with different types of fireworks from hand held sparklers to bottle rockets as well as what to do if something goes wrong. These videos will teach you that fireworks can be fun if respected but dangerous if neglected.
"Hi this is John. Now we are going to talk a little bit about the types of fireworks. What we have here is one of the smallest rockets that are available called a Bottle Rocket. Why they call it that is that it is really meant to be put into a soda bottle and light. The main thing that you need to be using is these safety lighters. The reason being is you need to have this at a safe distance away to light the fuse. You don’t need to light it directly with a match because the fuse can go up much quicker sometimes and go off in your face or near your hand. The most important thing you need to have is safety glasses. Whoever is doing the lighting of the fireworks needs to be wearing safety glasses. You may have a nearby explosion or something go off and you need to protect your eyes at all times. Also do not light more than one rocket at a time because invariably what will happen is you will light one rocket and by the time you get ready to light the other one, the one you lit first may be getting ready to go off and may be going off in your direction. So be safe and just light one rocket at a time. Now what I will do is will show you what it will actually do and look like at night. "
