"So I'm mixing this up with my hands. And it starts to kind of look like... you know you don't want it too wet... if it's too wet, it will stick to the mold. If it's too dry, it won't stick to itself and then you wont be able to mold it at all. So there's this kind of ideal consistency to get it at. And I'm pretty close, as you can tell because it starts to look like just barely moist kind of beach sand. You can take it... and if I take a little bit of it and if I squeeze it, compress it, it should kind of stay compressed into a shape. And so I'm just about right with this. I might want to add a little bit of water, but as you practice this and you make sugar skulls you'll get a sense of what the consistency should be. So I might add just a little bit more water to this. Maybe just like a half of a tablespoon just kind of in there. Like I said, I like mixing this with my hands because it just kind of gives you a sense of what the consistency is and you're going to get sugar all over yourself anyway so you might as well dig in at the beginning. And so keep mixing this up, get it nice and homogeneous, and then the next thing will be to mold these out. One thing I'll say is that if you're interested in making sugar skulls that have a little bit of color to the sugar itself, like if you want ones that are kind of pink or baby blue, I've got some over there....here I'll show you... I've got kind of these... here's kind of a bluish tint one. You want to add that coloring to the water before you.... you know... mix it up in the water before you add that to the sugar. And now to the dry ingredients before you add the water. So anyway, I've got my water added and I'm going to mix this up and the next thing we'll do is mold out the skulls using the molds. "
