Gift Wrapping with Pixie Stix

"We've got a candy theme going on with our magazine wrapped present so let's stick with that by making a little package tie-on out of candy. I've chosen some pixie sticks for two good reasons. Number one the colors are great and second of all it's a really easy shape to work with, well a third reason they're cheap. So I've got a little blue one, a little orange one, and let's grab a purple one too. That really goes with the colors that we are working on. Now you can just stick these in kind of like chopsticks. And that's cute but we can take it to another level. We're going to kind of make a little snowflake out of these pixie sticks and fact let's not just stop at three lets grab one more of the purple. It's kind of a wacky asterisk shape that we're going to make on a flat surface. And now let's grab a little bit of curling ribbon. First thing we are going to do is try to hold that asterisk shape in one hand, make sure all the little wrappers are facing the way you want. That's not what you want. But you won't have a camera guy looking at you when you do it so you won’t have as much trouble. We are going to take our ribbon and we are going to wrap diagonally and all over in each direction, just keep wrapping. So one end of my ribbon started out shorter and one longer and I'm taking the long end and just fastening those pixie sticks in place, just like that. Now I can gather it in to the center and tie it in a knot. And now it's ready to attach to our present. I'm just going to center this over the ribbon I already have and bring in two of the sides from the original ribbon that's tied to the box. And I like using two pieces that are the same color, I think it makes it look a little bit neater for the bow. And I've also matched it to the ribbon that's holding the asterisks of pixie sticks together, just for a little bit more of a neat look. But you know what that's nit picky, just grab which ever two pieces of ribbon that seem the most convenient to you give that a little curl. Sometimes it's stubborn isn't it. Oh my gosh there's our finished present. We're ready to go to the party."
