"My name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village today I'm going to show you how to make sugar cookies. Now to soften up your butter something you can do is you can take your oven, go ahead and turn your oven on to 200-225 degrees. Take your stick of butter and just set them on top right there and what will happen is they will start softening up on their own by the time we actually get time to need these. They should be soft enough to where we can use them. So let's get cooking. Right now I got my 5 1/2 cups of flour, my baking powder, my baking soda already and my small bowl and I got a wooden spoon. I know I forgot to mention it so I apologize, one wooden spoon. What we are going to do is we are going to put our flour into this bowl a little at a time, if you dump it in all at once you get a big cloud of flour in your face. It's pretty unpleasant and pretty hard to clean up, get in there. Then we are going to take our baking soda and our baking powder which I just told you in reverse order, it's actually baking powder then baking soda. Put them in the bowl and if you're wondering why I didn't use this bowl in the first place because I'm going to stir it up in small bowl and then pour in back into the other bowl. That way I can make sure it is evenly distributed to really get it mixed up well. Cause if I put it in this bowl I had the same problem by having it in this bowl and it is almost full. So what I'll do now is I'll put about half of it back in here, stir that around really well (making a mess) and I'll add a little bit in at a time. You want to be sure your baking soda and baking powder gets spread really well and you don't make a giant mess like I'm making. That would be everything, alright let me clean up my mess here and move onto the next step. "
