Where to Shoot Fireworks

"Hi, I'm David Hunter with Expert Village. Today we're going to be talking about fireworks, the different types and safety tips. Now let's talk about a safe place where you could put your fireworks to shoot so your display will look good, not only for you but for your neighbors and friends. First you'll need to select an area where no power lines above the area you're shooting in or no tree limbs. It must be an open area with no fields, dry grass, or any dry grass around the area. The reasoning for not shooting around power lines, a lot of people when they get the fireworks, they get really excited. Rather you're young or old; fireworks bring out the kid in you. And a lot of times it is dark when we go outside and gather the family around and we start shooting, we don't realize when you shoot large projectiles, such as these behind me; they have a larger ball that comes out in the Class C firework. They come and they go straight up in the air, so if there is a power line or a tree limb above you, they're going to hit it and it's going to come straight down on top of you or your audience and that is something you don't want to happen. So just be aware of that. You might want to consider if you're in your yard, you selected a flat area that if the grass in the area is dry around you, to take a garden hose and kind of wet that area down about 30 minutes before you shoot. That way if the sparks or things that might come out in the land that are still hot, will not catch any of the areas on fire around you. Also, never shoot too close to your houses or sheds or never shoot around propane tanks or vehicles. And of course stay at a safe distance shooting your fireworks from your crowd. Make sure that you're at least 100 feet away from your crowd so that they can enjoy the fireworks and also enjoy the safety that comes with you shooting your display."
