"I'm Wayne Villeneuve, Fourth Degree Certified Instructor for Expert Village. Here is a formal sequence that you can practice as a moving meditation, as well as for self-defense. The first movement in this segment starts from the horse riding stance position, knees flexed, and toes pointing straight ahead. The right hand is the guard and the left hand performs an outward block. It sweeps from the hip across the body; head high, in an outward direction. For the next movement, assume a right cover position. The right foot is forward, the toes of the left foot point out to the left at a 90 degree angle. The knees are flexed. Now, the right hand is a guard and with the left hand perform an elbow strike, shifting the weight to the right, straightening the left leg as you shift, breathing out with the strike. Now, with the right elbow strike, turning the hips with the movement and breathing out. Your knees are always bent slightly through this movement. The next movement is called a "double kick". Start from the left cover position -that is left foot forward- turn the left foot out slightly, bend the right knee, front kick. With the foot still off the floor, turn and perform a right sidekick, and then back to a cover position. Here is a look at it from the side. Turn the left foot out slightly, bend the right knee, front kick, bend again, turn and a right sidekick, and then step down into a cover position. Here's another look at it. Turn the left foot out, the right knee leads in the right front kick and then turn and perform a right sidekick, and then back down into a cover position. Now to practice the left double kick, turn the right foot out, and the left knee up into a left front kick, turn and perform a left sidekick. As you can see balance is extremely important in this sequence of techniques. Now again, turn the right foot out, the left knee leads in the left front kick, turn and perform the left sidekick, and step back down into a cover position. Another look at the left double kick. Turn the right foot out, the left front kick, turn slightly and the left sidekick."
