"Walking around the pole seems like a very simple thing to do but there are certain ways that you can walk around your pole and look more attractive then other ways. You don't really want to be that close to the pole if you where dancing with a dance partner you would not want to be that close to him or her. If you push yourself away from that dance partner and give yourself a little room between you and that pole for some distance. Everything looks and feels a lot more open. So my rule of thumb with walking around the pole is not to have high arms. The only time I like to have high arms is when I'm about to swing into a movement. If I am not about to swing to a movement and I'm just using walking around the pole as a in between or a link to another movement I like to keep my arms a little bit lower. I also like to try to keep my forearm in line with the pole and my upper arm at a 90 degree angle. It just looks a little bit nicer. Let me also remind you that the pole is your dance partner and not something that you want to rub up against. Another thing to remember when walking around the pole is your foot placement. I like to raise my legs up when I walk so I would raise my legs and put my feet down in a position in front of the pole. I also like to put my feet in the position where I can twist on them easier. Try this at home. "
