"So the approach of the pole and the hand placement of the pole for this move is vital. If your hands are not in the correct position to do this move you won't be able to do the move. Keep in mind when you work any where with the pole you don't want to keep your body tight close up to the pole. The tighter and closer you are to the pole the more momentum you are not going to have and you are just going to fall like dead weight against this pole and crashing your body into a metal pole doesn't feel good. So the way I teach this is to put a high arm and a low arm. Your high arm is your outside arm and your low arm inside arm. This arm here is going to feel the brunt of the pole because you are putting your entire body weight on your shoulder and our lats. In order to be able to do these moves you have to be able hold your body weight. What I like to tell people to try to do is literally hold your body weight up against the side of the of the pole to get used to how this feels and try it on both arms. You will surprise yourself how strong you are on your weak arm."
