Video Transcript

"Hi, this is Toni from the Expert Village. I’m going to be teaching Tai Chi Chuan, the very beginning movements from the yang style form. In the Tai Chi form our very first movement is a non-movement it’s called wu-gee. Wu-gee is the quietness or stillness, so there is no movement. As the same in life when you prepare yourself before the next thing that you do. In Tai Chi you use this movement called the preparation movement. Stand with your feet at shoulder width apart, feel your shoes and feel a little bit heavy in your shoes, reach with the crown of your head, the very top skin of your head as so you’re reaching for a feature an inch ahead, a inch higher. You’ll feel that your jaws would come apart slightly and that’s an indication that you’ve lifted your crown and not your head. When you lift the crown you lift the spirit, there’s a little bit more energy in your eyes, even you can see it. The difference between this and this, stand quietly eye level out, lifting the crown, feeling the shoes, feeling the ground underneath the shoes, relax your face, relax your mouth, your eyes, your shoulders, fingers, hips, let your belly go in and out as you breathe, relax your toes, relax your mind, you’re here and see many things but let them go through you, don’t attach to them. Be quiet inside, looking ahead and being quiet."
