"TRAVIS WAACK: All right, the lob pass. The lob pass is a pass that we're going to want to use when we've got a defender in between us and our teammate and usually when we're in closer proximity to each other and in close proximity to the basketball hoop. And you really want to be selective when you're using the lob pass, if I'm here at the free-throw line, for example, and I've got my teammate down on the block. And this is usually where it's a good opportunity to use the lob pass is when your teammate has his opponent--has some body contact with his opponent and he might--he has him on his backside and maybe he's got a good position where he's got him sealed off. And you can give him the ball and he's like setting up for a hook shot of his own but he's got real good position and he's warding off the defender with his body and his arm and his position of his legs and where you've got a defender right in between you, but there's somebody on the other side of the lane and you can't use the bounce pass or a straight-through pass, you want to get it up over your defender's arms and reach, and into the hands of your big man who is setting up for a shot. So it's just going to be, after you're looking around, just a nice lob pass, arching and a little bit higher than a normal pass. So lofting and lobbying that ball down to your partner."
