Series Summary

The game of gridiron football is an icon of Americanism. From its roots in early versions of rugby football brought over the Atlantic from England, football takes it place alongside baseball as the most American of sports. Though its name is somewhat deceptive, and in fact logically unsound, football is the most widely watched sport in the United States, and its championship game, whose name is not known only to those who have been living on the moon for the last fifty years, the super bowl is the most watched television event in the United States. The sport is the caretaker of the Greatest Game Ever Played, the NFL championship game from 1958, which hosted 15 then future hall of famers and historic names such as Johnny Unitas, and continues to delight audiences with its mix of complex strategy and physical play.

In this free video series Vincent Jamal will teach you how to run a post route in American Football. Vincent will teach you how to run the first seven to ten yards, the rules of running post routes, and how to have a good stance. Vincent will also teach you how to do a strong cut in your route, how to have good vision, and how to tuck the football so you don't fumble it after you catch it. He will even show you how to train with cones so you can run the perfect post route!

Video Transcript

"VINCENT JAMAL: Hi, I'm Vincent on behalf of Expert Village. Now, what we're going to move on to, now that we've gotten [PH] Brian off to the line of scrimmage, we're going to pick a particular route for him to really focus in on. And the universal route, I think, is the post route. Anytime you hear somebody at the company picnic or anything else, they're talking about throw me the post route. So, that's what we'll focus on. So, we'll put Brian out on the line of scrimmage. And [PH] Chris will go ahead and we'll put you in a cover three. Just so Brian gets his timing down. And what we're going to look at is Brian wants to run about half speed, about 7 to 10 yards. Set, hike. And now, he wants to plant and cut in. Now, he wants to make sure that he gets himself that adequate explosion off the line. So, go ahead and run this, and we'll do a little bit closer to full speed, real time. Set, hike. And that's a more realistic look in what your post route is going to look like. You can also throw in a double move. So, Brian will go ahead and do that with a double move. Give him a slight fade out like we did the last time and bring it back in. Set, hike. And he wants to get his defender's hips turned. Once again, explosive and buying himself more time to get the ball."
