"Another important thing that I want to relay is the verbalization when you're on the floor. Especially on defense. We want to be calling out picks, telling our teammates that someone's coming to set a screen. And what we also want to do that's important, that a lot of people, you'll notice, don't do in pickup ball or league ball, is they don't yell "Shot" when they're on defense and their opponent shoots the ball. If you're playing good defense, you're doing all the things that you need to do, you're playing close up ball, you're pressuring the ball, you've got your hand up in your opponent's face, and they are able to get a shot off, when they shoot the ball, you want to yell "Shot." Yell "Shot" so that everybody else on your team who happens to have the back of their head -- not being able to see you or your particular person who's shooting the ball, gives them warning and notice that hey, the ball's up in the air, now I can box out my guy -- I'm going to find somebody to box out and look for the rebound. So, you're helping yourself because it's hopefully getting into the head of your opponent, and it's allowing your teammates, giving them notice that, hey, the shot's up in the air, so I've got to go find somebody to box out. So, let's just do a couple of those. We'll have Scott come in and do a couple of shots and grab them and pass them back out to him. Just the key thing here is, yell "Shot." Make sure that you're yelling it so that everybody knows. Got your defense -- "Shot!" You go and get the rebound. And we do it again. Every time. Get used to it. Get in the habit of doing it. We're on defense -- "Shot!" So, it's effective, you can be as loud as you want, it'll throw their shot off possibly, if not it might just aggravate them, which gets into their head, but most importantly, it's allowing your teammates to know that the shot's going up so that they can be more effective at their timing for boxing out their particular opponent."
