"The basic most important essential building block in good rebounding is good position. Good position between you and your opponent in the basket. When we talk about good position, we're talking about our feet in relation to our opponent and our body with our knees bent, our back side's out, and our arms up like this ready to get the ball. Also, keeping them at our back side. Also, gradually keeping them back. Your goal when you're boxing out in rebounding is to find either your man, if you're playing Maybe there's no body on your side out in front of you. Maybe they're out somewhere. You've got to find somebody. You've got to find somebody to box out. If you're playing one-on-one and somebody is shooting the ball, once they shoot the ball and you're seeing this with your peripheral vision and this guy is trying to get to the basket, you're trying to prevent him from getting there. Immediately with that shot, you're going to go either way. You're going to establish a pivot foot and you're going to turn to your right or turn to your left, depending on where the basket's at. You're going to turn and you're going to go into him. You're going to have your arms and you're moving. You can feel where he's at. You're moving around. You've got position. When that ball comes off, you can jump up and grab it. He's on your back side. Good rebounding starts with good positioning. If you've got position, you're going to get a lot of rebounds, whether your guy is taller than you or not. Good position is a good standard for getting good rebounds."
